A NY Story

Style Journal of Mix and Match Fashion!

I choose to try a trend I see happening real soon which is different fabrics being used in one outfit such as strips with abstract colors and many more creative thins. My vision was to go through my closet and see how many wearable outfits I could put together using prints that do not go together.

1.) My idea for the fourth day was to continue with the girly look. This top I decided to use a high waisted maxi skirt with a shirt that overflows over it. This time I decided to use solid colors to mix and match. I choose a tannish bottom, with a blue top. The top I plan to use a color that is not included into the bottom so the color would be off and different but at the same time it still complements the skirt.(Day 4)

2.) My idea for this day was to try something simple but daring. I started off on my first day by taking baby steps. I choose a fitted white and blue striped tank top with high waisted army fatigue pants. These are two prints are not normally associated with each other so I choose to try it.(Day 1)

3.) My idea for this was to focus on the upper body. I wanted a simpler look so I choose to use a blazer that was velvet but had a similar look to snake skin with a red and black long sleeved striped shirt underneath. They both share the same color which is black but is two very different prints.(Day 9)

4.) My idea for the last day was to go big but look cute and not crazy. I choose to mixed some garments from the earlier days and mix and match those items. I choose to use the pants from day 7 with the diamonds, and the tank top from day 1 with the jacket from day 9. I took three different prints and put them together and the outcome should be good. (Day 10)

5.) My idea for the third day was to try a more girly look. I decided to use a dress for this day. I took a colorful dress with a whole bunch of orange in it and took a long sleeve blazer that also had a lot of orange in it. These garments had two complete different prints but had a common factor which was orange. Day 3

6.) My idea for the fifth day was to switch up to a summer vibe and try something I don’t normally do.  I deiced to wear a flowy top that have a crazy print that was similar to African print with high waisted striped shorts. The shorts were pretty simple but the shirt was the main attraction because it was a short waisted shirt with the back out. (Day 5)

7.) My idea for the seventh day was to keep the crazy going. I was going to use pants this time. So for this day I choose my high waisted pants that have a print that was similar to diamonds and it was white, grey, black which are my favorite pants, and I choose to wear a peplum with the same galaxy print as the skirt. This should be interesting. (Day 7)

Letter to Editorial

            Dear Ms. P

Hello Ms. P, I was just writing you to know I admire you work. Your work is unique and different. Not many other photograph their work and capture the concepts that your pictures do. Your work captures the image that you set out for on paper in that one moment. I notice that your pictures always have a color that pops. In the I-Mag, your model that resembled Etta Kitt wore a bright and daring figure grabbing dress that flowed down to her ankles. In another photo shoot you had, called Fire vs. Ice, you also used an eye popping blue and also a bright red in the shoot. By the way I also liked the concept of these photos. My favorite photo is the one where the fire is pulling his hair of the ice. This is a cute photo and captures the concept that you wanted to portray.  I love the way you capture the colors in your pictures. Is photographing color your signature, and would you also consider you inspiration? Knowing that you come from Staten Island and travel to the city every day, does that affect the way you see things? Do the different environments influence your work? Would you say one environment influences you more than the other?

A Stylish Man from Staten Island!

I choose to photograph this man named Junior R. because I really admire his style. Junior stands out with his unique style and is not afraid to brighten up his wardrobe. He has an eye for detail. In this photo his whole outfit was color coded according. Even the ripples in his jeans match the print on his shirt. The color on his sneakers match the exact color on his shirt.
