Harlem World -Troy R.

 There's No Place Like Harlem

Growing up, I've always admired where I live, the crowded streets, bright lights, loud music, and let's not forget the loud people.  Harlem is literally the most amazing place in the world to me.  It might not be the most clean, but there's a lot of creativity that goes on in this small part of NYC.  I honestly feel like growing up here has influenced my decisons on what I want to do in life.  The graffiti seen in the streets made me fall in love with art.  I began to draw around the age of 4 (so my mother says) and haven't stopped since.  I've always drawn people then as I got older, I began to draw my name in graffiti because that was mostly all I knew.  When I entered middle school, I began to pay more attention to Harlem's fashion rather than the art on the walls.  I soon develope my own little style and decided that I wanted to become a fashion designer.  I took art and sewing classes over the summer to expand my knowledge in fashion design and by the time I was in 7th grade, I knew for sure I wanted to attend the High School of Fashion Industries.  I made all of these big decisions because of where I grew up. Harlem has had a big imact on my life, I can't imagine where I would be if I didn't grow up here.
